is the word "pony" used in spanish which country would say pony instead of caballito ? is the word poni correct in spanish- does it mean the same thing as caballito?

In Argentina we refer to small horses as ponies, especially those used to play polo.

In Colombia we say "pony" to a small horse, this is a special breed.

We would say: "Mira ese caballito, parece un pony"
