What is the name Madi, in Spanish?

Mari is short for Marisol. Magdalena is Madeline. (Madeleine in French).

Is "Madi" short for Madeline? Madeline being a French name, there is surely a Spanish equivalent.

By the way, you might be interested to know that Americans are often given the suggestion to pronounce the "d" in place of an "r" in some Spanish names in order to come closer to the correct pronunciaton of the Spanish "r".

I was having problems hearing "Manresa" which I knew that the reader I was listening to was pronouncing the name of this town, near the town of Navarcles, in Spain. But I kept hearing..indeed...I continue to hear "Mandresa" !

Thus I went in search of help...and found this: pronouncing the Spanish "r"

..."I learned this from a friend from Colombia whose name was Miriam. She hated the swallowed 'r' that Americans make when they say her name, so she suggested that they call her Medium. Said quickly, that was much closer to the Spanish pronunciation of Miriam."

So I wonder if - at least peninsular Spanish speakers - might hear your name as "Mari" ??
