I know "hace frío" means "it is cold", but how would you say "I am cold"... I am 99.999999999999% sure it isn't "estoy frío"

If you are saying you are cold it is "Estoy frío", but if you are saying you feel cold then it is "Siento frío". If you are talking about food that is supposed to be cold then you would use "ser" but if it is food that is a different temperature than what is expected then you would use "estar". If you use ser, for example you say, "mi madre es frio", you are describing your mother as being a cold or distant person. It is describing a charateristic.

Well, if you are talking about sensing a low temperature, then it's "Tengo frío" (I have cold, yes, it sounds weird but it's like this). But when you talk about being a cold person, then its "Soy frío"

Si tenés frío, ponete una frazada.

I'm pretty sure "estoy frío" implies that "you are cold ... to the touch". But it might not ever be used.
