Putting Netflix instant watch to good use, I recently watched a couple of Latin American films to practice my listening skills. However as a single parent I don't always get to watch without kids. While both were good, Sin Nombre was definitely not a family watch and the younger 2 kids didn't get the politics in Innocent Voices. Any suggestions on good latin american films? Please indicate whether it's a with or without kids selection. Gracias.

In this link you'll find lots of Argentinian movies (the summery and links to download on dd). You can read and decide by yourself the ones you like. If you are with your kids I can recommend:

.

  • Patoruzito
  • Papá se volvió loco

.

For you (kids... it's up to you)

  • Motivos para no enamorarse
  • Alma mía
  • Nueve reinas (This film is excellent!!!)
  • Anita
  • Caballos salvajes
  • El hijo de la novia
  • El secreto de sus ojos (nominated for next Academy Award)
  • Elsa y Fred
  • Esperando la carroza (Nice comedy)
  • No sos vos, soy yo
  • Quién dice que es fácil?
  • Tiempo de valientes

.

Hope it helps!

I also use Netflix and I went through my viewing history to see which Spanish movies I enjoyed. I can't say that these would be appropriate for your kids but sometimes reading the reviews can give you an idea whether it is right for your kids. All of these listed are available from Netflix.

Cautiva

Pan's Labyrinth

Belle Epoque

Ladron que roba a ladron

The Orphanage

Under the same moon

The Crime of Padre Amaro - not for kids

Maria full of grace - not for kids

Recently watched "El Secreto de Sus Ojos" and "No Sos Vos Soy Yo". Both excellent, and both not for kids.

I just signed up for NetFlix Instant Watch yesterday and I am loving it. I found lots of movies in Spanish, but all are way over my head. The one I settled on is ''Glub"" which is an animated movie about a girl who gets lost in a garbage dump. I understand about every 50th word that is spoken. It does have English subtitles. I guess I will watch it until my monitor burns out and hope some will get absorbed. I was going to write the text down and translate it later but they talk so fast that I am going to wear out the rewind button before the movie is half over.

If anyone can reccomend a movie for 2 year olds, let me know.

Thanks.
