Could someone tell me a nice Spanish word for the word "flirt" ?

The dictionaries said: ligón (m) mariposón (m) (man); ligona (f)

I just want to make sure these are the terms that are actually used! I don't want a word like "pimp" or anything like that. I'm going to be asking my high schoolers if the character is a "flirt" so I want a "nice" word and not a slang one!

Hi thaibean! Here is one that is not slang, nor derogative:

Verb: Coquetear Noun: Coquetasmile

Hmmm, coqueta in Spain is a woman who likes making herself up, dressing nicely etc, not nessearyly to flirt.

  1. adj. Dicho de una persona: Presumida, esmerada en su arreglo personal y en todo cuanto pueda hacerla parecer atractiva. U. t. c. s.

You can also use this for things

  1. adj. Dicho de una cosa: Pulcra, cuidada, graciosa. Casa coqueta Jardín, salón coqueto

coquetear does mean to flirt.

the word most used in Spain however:

ligar

  1. intr. coloq. Entablar relaciones amorosas

coquetear is considered very old fashioned, no young person would use that.raspberry

Eres coqueto (masc) Eres coqueta (fem) means you are flirtatous. Or you could also say juguetón/juguetona which means playful.

Soy coqueta y juguetón - I am flirtatious and playful

Hope that helps! wink

I've heard of the word "coquetona" in a song, it says in the lyrics: "Coquetona, dicen que soy". As it is sung by a lady she says "they say I'm a flirt"
