I guess I should clarify. The sound made by the "oa" dipthong is much like the "wah" sound, though you probably shouldn't deliberately make a "w" sound. You should just say "oh-ah" quickly. The two sounds should be distinct, yet will blend together to make a sound much like "wah". But the two vowels, as far as I know, are meant to be put together in the same syllable.

Native speakers usually talk so fast that the o and a blend together into the wah sound. It is completely normal and not frowned upon. - StillLearning, Feb 9, 2010
