La teta Asustada - película
I was browsing a title list of academy award nominations for this past year and was surprised to see this film name "La teta Asustada". It caught my attention. At IMDB it states the US/Europe release name was "The Milk of Sorrow". (this is an argentinian film)
I guess my question is, am I missing something, that translation doesn't quite match up in my mind?

The scared tit
teta means breast or tit , so that is why the used milk. asustada is scared. So the literal translation would be: The scared tit or the scared bobbies. which is not very appealing in English. Or perhaps could be too controversial for the moral of middle America
Anybody saw the film? Any opinions?
"La Teta Asustada" refers to an ailment the indigenous people of Peruvian believe in. Much like when you scare a cow, the milk goes sour, they believe if a woman is scared enough her milk will go "sour" and when breast feeding a child, the disease of fear will transfer.
i believe they translated it so it would be easier for English speakers to grasp the seriousness of the indigenous belief.
I just watched the trailer for the movie and even in that very short sampling it is very clear both what "La Teta Asustada" means and where the the English title comes from. Obviously, "La Teta Asustada" doesn't translate very well into English "The Suprised Tit" so The Milk of Sorrow is better and is equally and possibly even more meaningful.
"La Teta Asustada" as far as I can tell refers to the emptiness that the main character feels while the Milk of Sorrow is the breast milk that she drank that caused her to have this emptiness.
Probably should watch the film if you want to know more.
To me this Title or Phrase means "The Empty Nest" I do not see the word milk in there at all. Asustada means Scared.
