"Boom! Boom!" as we say in England.

Egg cups - True story

An English friend here has a Bolivian girlfriend.

He moved into a new flat and had to buy a few things for it.

He put two egg-cups into his basket.

His girlfriend looked at them and said “What are these”

“Egg-cups” he explained.

She thought for a moment and said “What are they for?”

He said “For putting eggs in”

She said “Why only two?”

He said “What do you mean?”

“Well, we’ve got at least 12 eggs.” Boom Boom.

I get the joke Ian, but I think that this joke will probably not go over with most people in the U.S. as I have never seen anyone but my grandmother and grandfather ever use egg cups (a habit that they probably picked up - along with the egg cups and spoon - in their many trips to Germany) and I think that I would probably be hard pressed to find many people here who have ever heard of, let alone seen these utensils.

How do Americans eat boiled eggs without putting them in an egg-cup? Using your fingers, you would get burnt. - 00e8f2fa, Feb 9, 2010
Often, by waiting until the egg is cool enough to touch, but here, it is more common to eat eggs for breakfast that are cooked in other ways (scrambled, sunny side up, fried, etc). - Izanoni1, Feb 9, 2010
Ah, see I like my eggs runny and so you have to open the top as soon as their out, otherwise they cook themselves because of them being so hot:P - Sammy16093, Feb 10, 2010

Is it necessary to maintain the English word "egg-cup", or can it be replaced with "la huevera"?
