I know I shouldn't really care about this, but it is a mystery... any thoughts on this one? E

Even when you answer correctly, the more time you take to enter the answer, the less points you are awarded. I only worry about the percentage of correct answers, otherwise it becomes a typing test.

even though I have done them in the time allocated (or faster!).

I think you are misunderstanding the setup. You do not have 10 seconds to answer and get 10 points if you are correct. You only get 10 points if you answer within a second (or milliseconds it sometimes seems) after having been given the prompt. If it takes you two seconds then you only get 9 points, etc. You cannot do them faster than the time allocated (unless you cheat). You can type your answers before the question is even asked if you know the question beforehand (you're re-doing the test and have opted for non-shuffled questions). You can type it into the cache and enter it as soon as the questions is asked. You still only get 10 points, however.

Even if you cheat (or fudge, at best) you only get all ten points if you can enter the answer in the first second or so of having been asked the prompt. Other than that you get penalized for having to think about the answer or for being a slow typist. I've always thought it was a rather poor setup, since hurrying increases your typos and wrong answers, but it can be fun if you don't worry about your score.

Not to the flashcards but to the lessons.... where you do recall, recognise etc. For example when I do recognise and get them all correct, I do not score full points, even though I have done them in the time allocated (or faster!).

On 'recall' I can never ever type every phrase/word quickly enough to score 10 for each - is that what you're referring to?
