How do you pronounce "ellas"?

When you look up "ellas" on the dictionary function of this website and you click on the audio for "them," it says "then." Can I trust this website's pronounciation for ellas?

Do you pronounce it like:

1) el- yas

or

2) ayas

or

3) are both correct?

It all depends on where you are....In Mexico it's /A yahs/

In Argentina the ll sound is more like the soft 'j' , almost as if you were saying 'Asia's' as in 'Asia's biggest export is rice' = /A jahs/

Number 2 is correct. a double l (ll) is a yuh sound.

so ellos would be pronounced ayas

Both are correct. The pronounciation depeds on which Spanish-speaking country you are in. I personally prefer el-yas, but it doesn't matter.

are you clicking on the correct thing? you should see a speaker icon next to both "ellas" and next to "them". If you don't see icons next to the words you probably need to install Adobe Flash player. the pronunciation sounds right to me but I'm not a native.
