How do I send or receive a private message?

Question

I noticed that although there is an area on my user page to receive messages and count or show sent messages, there does not seem to be a way to send messages. I also noticed that on some user pages that there is a specific area for sending messages to the page owner. My profile indicates a preference for receiving private messages. Am I forgetting something or is there a glitch in the system.

If you want to send a private message click on the person's picture and scroll down on their profile, look under their about me section and click on end private message to them when you receive one it will appear in your inbox. Good luck. : )
