How would you refer to a single strand of hair, as opposed to an entire head of hair?

¡Muchas gracias!

"Un pelo" is a single strand of hair. You usually say "el pelo" when talking about the entire thing.

"me arranqué un pelo" = I pulled one hair

"me corté el pelo" = I got a haircut

Yes, it happens all the time. You are answering at the same time that other member and no one is aware of the other's answer. :) - 00e657d4, Feb 3, 2010
Thanks a bunch! I had thought it was "un pelo" but it just didn't sound right. Guess it is after all! :) - faylette, Feb 3, 2010
