Just an interesting note:

"Canguro" (kangaroo) can mean babysitter in some countries.

Example:

"Esta noche hago de canguro" ( I'm baby-sitting tonight).

"Trabajo de canguro" (I'm a babysitter).

If you're talking to a baby, you would use an informal version.

"Sentate bebe." or "Sientate bebe."

If you want to say: the baby sits, it would be:

"El bebe se sienta."

True, I suppose, but this has nothing to do with the English expression "baby sitter". - samdie, Feb 2, 2010

Well, I had no clue how to answer this, so, I looked at our translator and in the dictionary and I came up with two possibilities.

1) Bebe se siente

2) Cuidar (literally means "take care")
