crayons and colour pencils

Question

I would like to know if I can see "colour pencils" or "color pencils" to refer to the crayons.

And how can I say "un lápiz azul"?. Is "a blue pencil" correct? Or is it "a blue crayon".

Yes - a coloured penci looks like a pencil, in a wooden casing (what's exactly inside - I can't tell, it probably depends on a manufacturer and the ingredients).

Crayons are often protected with paper, sometimes they don't have anything (then you can get your fingers smudged).

I understand that:

Lápices de cera (o de otros materiales) = crayons

Lápices de colores = coloured pencils (with wood)

Coloured pencils can be also known as pencil crayons. This last expression is the one that confused me. But, I think I must learn that by heart.

Then, it is possible to say: a blue pencil (made of wood and wax in the centre) and a blue crayon (made of wax or other materials).

I have other doubts.

In Spanish, we use to using two expressions:

Lápices de cera- They have wax.

Lápices de colores- They have wood.

Lápices de cera = ¿crayons?

Lápices de colores = ¿coloured pencils?

Anyway, it is true that it is possible to use "lápices de colores" for both of them. But if we ask for "lápices de colores" in a shop, they will give us the ones that have wood. Then, we will say: sorry, I wanted to say "lápices de cera". I mean, most of times I have to specify that are "lápices de cera" so that people do not confuse with that.

Is that like this in English?

Hola! te puedo decir que "cranyon" es lo que tu llamas en inglés pencil coloreada; segun el dictionario de este sito, lápiz puede ser the pencil como tambièn the pen para escribir, pero pienso que un lápiz azul puede ser ok;

Te voy a añadir tambièn el termine "marcador" si tu entiendes los otros tipos de pencils con el ink!
