Could the new category, "Games and Challenges" diminish support for newcomers?
It will be interesting to observe the new dynamics the new category, "Games and Challenges" will inevitably create.
I've noticed that the members that have enthusiastically endorsed it - including me - are frequent contributors.
They are the backbone of this site with their untiring efforts to welcome and nurture new members.
Is there any danger that they might spend so much time with games and competitions that the rigorous, vital "grunt" work they've admirably done with "newbies" might decline?
Just asking...

Any type of activity where the resident experts are mentoring the frequent contributors who are showing the newbies, who are asking the members, who are participating in learning can only be seen as positive. Ideally any user will begin to see how diversified the rest of the community is, and how these forums should only build upon one another.
Besides, learning should be fun and enjoyable, that way it becomes contagious.
I don't think so, as people are participating everywhere. The category shows, but the "hot" questions are on first page and will be answered no matter what. Actually, we don't have but one, jeje, thread unanswered at this moment![]()
