las gallusas (having to do with hair)

In talking about long hair, what do "la gallusa" and "las puntas" mean as in this sentence: "No debe cortar la "gallusa" ni "las puntas."

Gallusa?? never heard that word. maybe is a expression from a particular region but is not in the Spanish dictionary. Puntas are the extreme portion of the hair. Usually refer to the area where the hair is mostly damage.
