"al" or "a el"
This question is in regards to chaparrito's reverse translation exercise and concerns .... to the .... at the very beginning of the exercise. Many responses, including Nicole-Baile's, uses "Según a el Departmento..." Why is it not "Según al Departmento...". Is it because el belongs with and is part of a proper name - el Departmento de Transporte? I couldn't find this addressed in the reference section or in prior forum postings. Thanks!

Según el Departamento is correct. The other is not
ni "a el", ni "al". Lo correcto es Según el Departamento... Según la Comisión Investigadora... Según el parte meteorológico...
No es "Según al" sino "Según el". After "según", never say "a", but "según el" o "según la"
did anybody answer why this is?
I thought it was always "al" when it was " a el".
