Intermediate Book for Spanish Learners
I also agree that reading is very helpful to learning a language. I learned my English reading mainly I think books like Harry Potter, Lord of the Ring, and the like. Are there equivalents of these in Spanish? (elementary level, interesting, intense, enjoyable, but also enough vocabs so that I'm learning stuff) .

All of C.S. Lewis' books are available in Spanish which I find very readable because they are written for young adults and I already know the general story line. Also McGraw Hill has a book out called Read and Think Spanish which contains 100 articles about Spanish-Speaking culture with vocabulary helps in the margins and an audible CD to listen to a native speaker while you read.
I have read the first two Harry Potter books in Spanish. They are good but the vocabulary really is different. There is a flash card site at www.flashcardexchange.com that has some really good flash card sets. If you search on Harry Potter at that site there are several flashcard sets for the vocabulary in some of the books. I know there is a good list for the first book, it is by chapter. But I am not sure about the rest of the books. I really needed vocabulary help when I read the first one. Actually I still need vocabulary help but I haven't had much time to use that site lately.
Is there any original Spanish novels, like not translations. Something as classic as Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings or Chronicles of Narnia that was written in Spanish?
I think all of the Harry Potter books are out in Spanish - I know I've seen several at our library.
I think that is exactly what I like in these big novels. The repetition that makes learning a new language so much easier.
All of the Harry Potters are translated into Spanish. I have read number 3 (Prisoner of Azkaban) in Spanish and thought the translation was pretty good (although I wish they did more with the dialog -- Hagrid sounds just like Dumbledore, at least to me).
There is a TON of great vocabulary and many good idioms in the book. If you decide to use this book, I have 500 flashcards from this book on a different site (sorry!! I do hundreds of flashcards and I haven´t figured out how to get rid of the 3 second delay on this site). Send me a PM if you want the link.
I´m pretty sure you can get Twilight in Spanish too. My daughter is reading it in German and she likes it because there´s so much repetition (!)
Are there any fictions like Harry Potter in spanish? Thank you.
I learned how to read with the "Reader Digest " in Spanish and comic books in Spanish.Mostly comic books. With the readers Digest you can get the English copy and the Spanish one. Both use the same articles. You might be able to get them in the internet.
