Where can I get this document? Needing to send my prescription medicines from USA to Mexico? We will be living in Mexico part time and needing to keep my USA health insurance. My one medicine is $700.00 us dollars per month from Mexico and double that in the states... Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

My husband and I spend 4 months at a time in Mexico. I have one Rx medication that I must take; my MD merely writes a letter to my insurance company stating that I must have this specific Rx and he approves it for 6 months, just to be sure that I have enough in case there is a delay in getting home. Insurance has always approved it.

Have you tried that route? Or are you already in Mexico? If so, can the US Consulate help?

Hi! Thanks for responding to my answer! We are moving to Mexico this July.Yes, my insurance company ( state ) covers all of my meds, five of them... It is all free. Otherwise I wouldn't have a problem buying them in Mx. The one is an injectable(Embrel) is so expensive, even in Mx. So, you go back to the states and get your dr. to prescribe six months of your meds and you take them back on the plane to Mx. with you? I guess customs doesn't have a problem with that. We went there a couple of weeks ago to visit and they didn't even question the ones in my purse. That sounds like a great plan! We are going to the Philadelphia Consulate to get our fm3 visas, closer to the time of our move. I am guessing maybe May? If you have any advise about that, I would deff. appreciate it! Thanks so much! Debbie grin
