I am reading about Mexico but I am a little confused with what they are calling 'el Istmo de Tehuantepec'? Is this the Yucatan?

Hi Sunshinezmom,

The isthmus of Tehuantepec is the narrow strip of land (see the green line) that joins the two larger land masses together. By contrast, the Yucatan is the large thumb-like projection (peninsula) that points up into the Gulf of Mexico.
