Ian-Francis-Hill vs Billy-Jones

How many think I should just stop studying and let Ian regain his title? Sincere question, what should I do? I'll stop until I hear the voice of the people.

Go Billy Go! grin

It's lonely at the top, but you've earned the right to be there! I know that Ian congratulates you, along with the rest of us. But, that's just my opinion. The only one that really matters is Yours! So....

What do You think you should do? smile

P.S. Love the clever Hill-Billy name!

LOL

Keep going man.

I am in awe of the speed with which you made it to 1M.

You will see others following us and that is good.

Hi Ian what they don't know is how many times you have already passed me... In fact you are ahead now. - billy-jones, Jan 23, 2010

Thanks to all who answered, I will write more later. I, like Ian in his post, meant this as light-hearted fun. I am addicted. I don't think I could stop if I tried. I have nothing but respect for Ian and all here. To have a little fun by posting gives joy and provides a needed break. Thanks to all.

Maybe the best way to resolve this is to plop Ian-Francis and Billy-Jones down into Guadalajara or Barcelona to see who speaks the best Spanish?

I'm good for $100 as a contribution to first-class airfare!

They both deserve first class accommodations, that's for sure.

I don't know what you're saying - Fidalgo, Jan 23, 2010
Well, perhaps I'm implying that "book-learning" Spanish does not necessarily create the ability to speak it. But actually, I was just trying to inject a little humor into this thread. - 0057ed01, Jan 23, 2010
But Volpon you are on to something here. Many people with far less points than I understand Spanish much better than I do. - ian-hill, Jan 23, 2010
Good point Volpon, ditto what Ian said....now should we start packing? - billy-jones, Jan 23, 2010

All of us respect for King Ian, but you have the right to study and to compete. Who was the person who hold the title before Ian? We don't know. But the title now has belonged to you, not Ian. Sir Ian Francis Hill is always a hero. But this is the final of a tournament and everyone needs to esteem all opportunities he has. So keep your work and defend the championship.alt text

Oh Billy - I don't think even Ian would ever want you to stop studying.

I could be wrong, but I think his post was done as a compliment to you - his way of expressing his admiration for what you have achieved. At least, that's how I read it.

I'm thoroughly enjoying watching the battle at the top of the points table, and have nothing but admiration for all of you. It's a kind of intellectual version of "Britain's Got Talent" smile

Right ' it was a compliment ' I know what it takes to get that many points. All hail Billy. - ian-hill, Jan 23, 2010
Hi Sheila, I know we are just having a little fun. Sometimes I feel More like Richard Bucket (pronounced "bouquet", it's French you know) from "Keeping Up Appearances." :-) - billy-jones, Jan 23, 2010

¡Creo es fantástico ver un poco de competencia amistosa! Esa clase de espíritu puede impulsar a alguien esforzarse lograr más de lo que le parecía posible. wink

I think it is great to see a little friendly competition! That's the kind of spirit that prompts pushing oneself to achieve more than one thought possible. grin

Exactly, that's all it is just a fun little competion with a real, true reward, learning more and reinforcing what we have learned. - billy-jones, Jan 23, 2010

No, not at all.

Not to be offensive, if I am, but stopindg to study would not be the right choice, I believe. In this matter, if you continue studying, you should be able to improve your own skill.

Keep studying, :D

Sounds like a hollow victory to me, and one that I doubt Ian would be proud to claim. Keep doing your thing. If nothing else, you are at least inspiring others to work harder/longer.

I'll take Barcelona - don't think Billy will agree with me though.

Thanks for the gesture. grin
