what is the word for large beer (slang)? When ordering a 40 oz. beer there is word that is not a direct translation. This word I think has something to do with a turtle.

Ok, to make things very clear:
Now this is incredible, this is one of my favourite bars!! And the glass Paco is using is el doble.
In Mexico:
The slang term for these are caguamas (sea turtles) or in some parts like Mazatlan, ballenas (whales). Wiki
I haven't heard caguamas here in Veracruz; Ballenas is much more common.
cerveza grande!
Un botellín, very typical too, and a caña, in other countries this is wine.
¡¡¡Cervezota!!!
HI will, welcome to the forum
In Spain we say:
una jarra, un doble, un mini (1 litre) (yes, this last one really is a weird thing to say!)
Un tanqúe--------A tankard
The one that comes to my mind is "caguamón", which is an exaggeration of "caguama". Caguama is a sea turtle, so I think that might be what you're thinking of. At least that's how it is in Mexico.
caguama
Ok, Heidita!! I am drooling over here! They look delicious.
