I know it's a kettle, but why the sunken lid with holes? - peachthorne, ENE 20, 2010

it´s used to heat milk, and other liquids. I guess the holes are there to avoid spilling it all over the burners if boiled too fast.

I know that all kettles are used for boiling liquid, but what specific dishes is this type of kettle used for? - peachthorne, ENE 20, 2010
millk, eggs adn.... lol. It´s not a very special container. A sauce pan works the same way and has also a handle! - mediterrunio, ENE 20, 2010

Its a double boiler used to make sauces, melt chocolate and candle making etc.

hi, It doesn't have a pot inside of a pot the way traditional double boilers do, though. The chocolate would definitely scorch! - peachthorne, ENE 20, 2010
