English slang to Spanish slang reference wanted

Can anyone recommend a reference source, dictionary, book, website, etc. that would help me with translating English slang into Spanish slang. I am particularly interested in slang used by teens not adults. I am not interested in sexual or derrogatory slang I am more interested in everyday teenager talk. Things like "dude". Working with young teens I find that this is what they want to know and I would like to give them some safe words to use. Most of the material I have seen is for Spanish slang translated into English and usually includes phrases inappropriate for teens.

There are lots of books on Spanish slang out there, so you could do a search at Amazon. One book I liked a lot was "Spanish Among Amigos" which seems aimed at the 20-30 year old set, and more geared to Peninsular Spanish. I agree that a lot of what´s out there involves lots of vocab for drinking and hooking up, so you need to pick and choose!!

A good website is: lingus tv. They have a series of free webisodes (1-3 minutes each) following the lives of several twenty-somethings. The site has surprisingly high production values, and the dialogues tend to be quirky/campy.

Hope this helps. Welcome to the forum -- hope to see you again soon.

Hi there notyet! Here's a link to a thread here on SpanishDict that may useful: http://www.spanishdict.com/answers/102869/mexican-slang-would-you-like-to-learn-some-slang-

I found this by using 'slang' as a search query in the questions section. There were quite a few other threads that could have been useful also. You might try that and see if there are any references to specific websites in those older threads. smile
