How do you say "I love you" to family members in Spanish?

I've heard that "Te amo" and "Te quiero" are reserved for romantic love, so how would I say "I love you" to my son or my mother in Spanish?

and Thank you!

Both can be used with mother and son, no problem.

You can also use "te adoro" (I adore you, even though in English it can seem a little bit too much).
