Such is life. So basically, I give up. Comes from a French phrase.

Although the French expression sounds just the same, Se la vi means I saw it in Spanish. Something previously mentioned has been replaced by the pronoun la in this phrase and the context provides the full meaning.

For example. Graciela compró una motocicleta nueva. *Se la vi en el garage.* (la goes for una motocicleta nueva)

I think this turned up here once before and turned out to be a play on "c'est la vie" (French).
