Why do the worst disasters always hit countries the least prepared? And Haiti has definitely had it's share of misery through the decades. Really makes me wonder if God just hates Haiti.

Why would the "creator of the universe" hate anyone? Does the creator have human frailties? - ian-hill, Jan 13, 2010

Why is there not an old aircraft carrier available? - fitted out as a supply ship and a floating hospital that can be despatched within a few hours to such disasters.

When will we get our act together?

My thoughts and prayers are with all of my Haitian friends. We have been supporting a Haitian child through Compassion International since 2003. He lives very close to the epicenter and I am very concerned about him. His name is Immanuel Tolerant. He has become like a member of our family, although by long distance

Also, a little over six months ago, we spent some time in the Dominican Republic, which as you know, shares the same island with Haiti. While we were there, we met and became friends with so many beautiful Haitian people. We had the opportunity to share in several of their church services. They sing so beautifully and no matter what you believe, just observing the way these people worship is such a beautiful sight. One special memory was a day spent with both Dominican and Haitian people working side by side with us as we painted a local police station. The Dominicans laughed and found it amusing as we, the Americans tried to communicate to the Haitians in our only common language...Spanish! jeje wink smile

The Haitians I met were such hard working, faith filled people. It is my hope and prayer that this same attitude and spirit will hold them together and lift their spirits in the coming days and weeks.

Oh, and to answer the original question, I believe God truly loves the people of Haiti. I have personally seen some beautiful and miraculous things happening among the Haitian people!

Really makes me wonder if God just hates Haiti.

Being agnostic, luckily (?) I'm far away from such deliberations. But I'm ashamed (and really angry) that my government has donated only $50.000, while the Dominikan Order in Cracow are demanding some compensations worth about $30.000.000!! angry

Earthquake in Haiti - donate now to support UNICEF's response to children in need.
