Verb of the week: "Antojar" up close and personal

Used generally as a reflexive (antojarse), this is an exceptionally common verb and one that you should get to know well. To translate it, dictionaries offer "to long for" or "to feel like." An antojo is a "craving" or an "urge" and covers both intense longings (like the kind that make pregnant women eat pickles) and similar pleasures. You'll probably run across the ver frequently in the ame situations. Some examples: Se me antoja una pizza = "I'm dying for (could go for) a pizza." ¿Por qué no vas a ir al cine? Porque no se me antoja = "Why aren't you going to the movies?" " Because I don't feel like it." Déjame una dona; luego se me va a antojar = "Leave me a doughnut; I'll probably feel like having one later."

I haven't seen your "verb series" yet -- it's a very nice idea 
Is the verb "antojar" interchangeable with the phrase "tener ganas de"? For example, if you said "Tengo muchas ganas de comer una pizza" instead of "Se me antoja una pizza" would it be incorrect?
