After playing with and enjoying the forum the last few weeks I have come to the conclusion that I am not so wierd as I thought. Up til now it's been tough finding people to identify with or have the patience with my self-proclaimed addiction to spanish. I have really enjoyed how gracious everyone has been here in the forum and suprised at how many other people think just like me.....THANKS everyone.

You probably are a little weird, just like most of us on this forum. After 37 years my wife still thinks I'm weird, but she loves it. Now she's getting hooked on Spanish. - CalvoViejo, Jan 11, 2010
making the title clearer and spelling, thanks rena:) - 00494d19, Jan 11, 2010

I am so glad that you feel at home here too! Not everyone seems to be as interested in learning Spanish as I am. Once in awhile I come across someone who is interested, but no one hard core like the wonderful people on this site! wink smile

That is why it is so great to have a community of people that share the same goals as we do. This way, we can give our loved ones a break from our "strangeness". wink LOL LOL

Just a note: The same people who think you are "weird" will not be thinking that when you get them out of a communication problem in a Mexican airport or when you are able to bargain for a lower price in an open market in a Latin American country. You will then be a hero!! It happened to me and it was oh so gratifying!!!!! wink LOL LOL LOL

That's what I think is so cool about it, shopping!! It makes such a difference. - Yeser007, Jan 11, 2010
(format error). I agree too. In cases like this we change from weird to 'SuperSpanishSpeaker'! :-D - chaparrito, Jan 11, 2010

Maybe it's just me, but I feel the "dict" part of SpanishDict sounds a little too much like a certain English word and I feel weird telling people the name of the website.. lol. SpanishAddict sounds good. - lisa13, Jan 11, 2010
No lisa, it's not just you. I don't feel weird about it but I do have to supress the chuckle whenever I say it. - Yeser007, Jan 11, 2010
agreed on that special English word theme - nizhoni1, Jan 11, 2010
I'm always very careful to pronounce the T on the end very clearly, Lisa! - Goyo, Jan 13, 2010

You want to hear about weird. I failed languages in High School almost including my own English. I have never really understood grammar and at this point in my life probably never will (but you never can tell). I love the idea of being able to communicate with people native to the places I like to visit so bad grammar and all here I am and loving every minute of it. I have to point out also that it's the people on this site that make the difference.

It's been 25 years that I've been my husband's "¡miau! de gato" (cat's meow), but for the last 5 he hasn't understood a word I've said. LOL Every sentence I speak now includes at least one Spanish word. I'm sure it probably drives him nuts, but he's too sweet to say anything except "Great Job, Sweetie"! (bless his heart) smile

Slowly, but surely, he's picking up the language! Actually, he thinks he's fluent. rolleyes

So, weird....probably. And you can count me in on that, as well. But you gotta love us! grin

Yes, it is true! For the three decades my husband and I have been married, he has been watching me thrill over discoveries in Spanish; he has spent our entire marriage wading through piles of dictionaries, books, notes, etc... He just mentioned yesterday that Spanishdict is the perfect site for those of us around the world who are cut from the same cloth!

It's wonderful!!!!!!!
