Word choice problem.

I have been doing work and I have hit a problem I can't solve.

Simón tiene la aspiradora porque está _________ la alfombra.

I have narrowed my choices down to Limpia and Limpiar. I am not sure if it should be conjugated or kept the same.

In my very humble opinion, I would conjugate Limpiar (to clean) to limpia. Hope this helps. smile

Limpiando is the missing word está precedes the gerund of the verb limpiar

Simón tiene la aspiradora porque está limpia la alfombra.
Simon has the vacuum because the carpet is clean?? I don't understand why Simon would do that!

I'd say sucia. Simón tiene la aspiradora porque está sucia la alfombra. Simon has the vacuum because the carpet is dirty.

OR if you know you need to use limpiar or a verb: Simón tiene la aspiradora porque está limpiando la alfombra. Simon has the vacuum because he is cleaning the carpet.

I think that "limpiando" is the correct answer.

Simón tiene la aspiradora porque está limpiando la alfombra.

"sucia" is logic but the word order is a bit unusual that way

Not too unusual for Spanish actually - 003487d6, Jan 9, 2010
