How do you say lee or cree?

I am recording the verbs "to read" and "to believe" in the present tense conjugation and I am having trouble with the double ee pronunciation since all the sounds you hear on the net are in the infinitive form.

[He reads] Is it "lay" "a" {long a}? and [He believes] Is it "cray" "a" {long a}?

Gracias!

Yes, that's as close as you can get to sounding them out with english sounds. smile

You said my pronunciation was correct and I found the rule. Strong vowels, a, e, o are put into separate syllables as le-o; tra-e; cre-e so you and I are correct. - foxluv, Jan 10, 2010

Here is a link I have (probably from Lazarus)

That's not the one I was thinking of, but it's a good one. Thank you. I think Lazarus preferred María over Antonio.

However, the thing that worries me about that site is that it will pronounce anything you put into it.

Lee - no problema

Leer- Claro

Leyendo - es facil

Leyendiosimosidigrado - esa palabra también! (A word I made up)

I am recording the verbs "to read" and "to believe" in the present tense conjugation and I am having trouble with the double ee pronunciation since all the sounds you hear on the net are in the infinitive form.

But in this case the infinitive form also has the double e, so it's just a matter of dropping the R.

However, someplace around here is a link to a site that gives you pronunciation of any word, spoken by natives all over the world.

Does anyone have that link?
