I would say

a brief glimmer of relief crossed Selznick´s face

or

Selznick´s face showed a brief glimmer of relief.

I believe it means to "look crossly" or "a cross look" at something or somebody depending on the context. With this one I believe Selznick is the one giving the crosslook, again the more context around the sentence the better. And for the word "destallo" was it possibly "destello"?, which means "sparkle" "twinkle", or "glimmer". For this sentence I would say "glimmer". Hope this helps. smile

I just wanted to give enough for you to do the rest and then post something. We can help refine the answer if need be. :) - Jason7R, Jan 9, 2010

Yeah, definitely Eddy, Un breve "a brief", that's why I thought to have a little more context might help a bit. Good call shiela as well! smile

I think it means "to establish eye contact" or to "meet someone's eyes" - but I don't quite see how that makes sense in this context !
