Conditional use of gustar

I was wondering if it is common in Spanish to use the conditional form of gustar, and if the following would be considered correct grammatically?

  1. We would like two margaritas. Nos gustarían dos margaritas. (Two margaritas would be pleasing to us).
  2. I would like the fajitas. Me gustarían las fajitas. (The fajitas would be pleasing to me.)

Yes. For much the same reasons as in English (the use tends to soften the request). Consider it as shorthand for "Si fuera tan amable, nos gustarían dos margaritas." (If you you would be so kind, we would like to have two margaritas."

Although grammatically correct, that would never be said in English. - hcjc, Jan 8, 2010

And, Habría gustado dos pero solo tenía uno. I would have liked two but I only had one.
