computer generated pronunciation of "pie" (and "foot")

I am sorry; I asked this yesterday but put it in the wrong category. I am not asking how to pronounce the Spanish "pie", I am reporting what I believe to be a problem with the pronunciation in the dictionary. It really sounds like "play". Oddly, even the English word "foot" sounds like "flet". It's as if somebody put the wrong sounds together when making those words. You may delete my corresponding question in the Vocabulary and Grammar category. Thank you.

There seem to be a lot of the pronunciations that are unlike any that I have ever heard - Jack-OBrien, Jan 11, 2010

Ok,lets get ur pies and feet straight here.piedes are feet, and piede is foot. There are 2 kinds of pie, one is like the pie we think of,and the other is like cake.that would be empanada(like taco bell!)and pastel(in that order)

Not sure where you're coming from, but from where I sit,

el pie (en Español) = foot (in English)
los pies (en Español) = feet (in English)

pie (in English) can be empanada, torta, tarta (en Español) cake (in English) can be pastel or tarta (en Español), there may be more depending on what country.

Well in my class empanada is closed pie, like apple pie,and cake,or closed pie, is pastel.Just to clear up anything

You are correct regarding empanada being a 'closed' pie, but typically it is referring to some type of meat pie, in Colombia at least. The last empanada I had was potatoes and pork. I'm not sure if empanada is the same in Mexico. Other 'closed' pies that are sweet or contain fruit are usually referred to as a 'torta' or 'tarta'.
