A letter to Ecuador

Hola todos,

I'm sending a letter to a girl in Ecuador that my parents are supporting through World Vision. Please help revise it! Here it is:

Querida Rosa,

¡Hola! Me llamo Katie. Mis padres son tus patrocinadores. ¿Cómo estás? ¿Quieres que te llame Rosa o Rosa Guali (Guali is one of her middle names)? Espero que tuvieras una Navidad buena. ¡Feliz año nuevo!

Cordialmente, Katie

(Is that the proper salutation? I don't want to be overly formal, but I don't really know her that well.)

I think it should be "espero que hayas pasado una Navidad buena". (present perfect to go along with the present tense). I´m not sure about the correct verb, whether it should be pasar or something else.

I hope it´s the beginning of many good letters!

Instead of cordialmente, you could say cariños or con cariño. These are common as well.

Gualie should be her surname, I guess.

Cordialmente is ok, or probably less formal and more appropriate in this case:

muchos saludos

con mucho cariño

muchos saludos de ..(where you are from)
