"crujir nuestros dedos"

Is there an expression "crujir los dedos" similar to "crack your knuckles"? This is from a historical novel by Pablo de Santis, so it could be antiquated. (I found "crujir los nudillos" in the dictionary).

Also, I´m not sure what the "hacíamos" is doing there...

Craig exponía su caso con frialdad, pero seis de nosotros hacíamos crujir nuestros dedos, encendida nuestra ira por el crimen.

Craig was expounding his case cooly, but the six of us ... our anger inflamed by the crime.

Happy New Year!

What is the name of the novel? It sounds wonderful!

"hacíamos crujir nuestros dedos" is another way to say "we were cracking our knuckles".

Feliz año!

It´s "El Enigma de París" and I´m enjoying it alot. It´s sort of a riff on detective novels of the period, with 12 Sherlock-type characters plus their side kicks. - kattya, Jan 2, 2010
It won the Premio Planeta-Casa in 2007 (I don´t really know what that is, but it sounds good!) - kattya, Jan 2, 2010
