Acudir, Ir and Venir

Question

I am trying to understand when I should use Acudir rather than Ir or Venir. For example would both of these be correct and if so is there any difference between them?

Acudo al centro. Voy al centro.

Acudir I have seen used for more like "to show up" as in showing up for a reason, e.g. an appointment, a meeting, etc. If you are called to a place or have a specific reason to arrive there, then you can use acudir. El paramédico acudió a rescatarme.

Ir is to go, meaning moving away from one place to another one usually but oddly it can mean to come or to be on the way sometimes.

Ya voy = I'm on my way.

Venir = is to come to a place.
