with reference to time or measurement? Cuarto (Time, as in quarter after 3) or cuarta parte (a 4th part)

Un cuarto.....one fourth.
Tres y cuarto...........a quarter after three......
una taza y un cuarto (de una taza- one fourth of a cup).
