I am trying to find formula to calculate time required to lean Spanish.
Required time is inversly propotional to = 1) Perseverance (P) 2) Interest (I) 3) Need (N) 4) Spanish Ambience (S)
That means if interst is low, time taken is more. If persevernace is low it takes more time to learn etc.
Hence, the formula is:
Time Required to learn Spanish = K / PINS
Here, K is Intelligence Quotient that differes from person to person.

I believe you are trying to ask the question: "How long will it take until I become fluent in speaking Spanish".
I am learning the language also, and I am on my 5th month. I know I have a long way to go before I become "fluent" in Spanish. I really don't know the answer, but I go by the following: "However long it takes, that is when I will speak Spanish fluently".
I believe in achieving any goal, the main focus should be "the task at hand", not the final outcome, especially related to time. I am sure everyone learns at different "periods of time" relative to many factors, i.e. an inborn predilection for a specific subject, how much time one has to achieve their goals, tenacity, etc.
In India they teach their children to "focus on the task at hand, the goal will eventually be achieved". In this country (USA) where I live, some parents misguide their children by telling them things like: "If you want to live in a big house like that, you had better study". What this does is change the focus of one from "learning" and becoming "educated" to one of "Wanting". I believe this is one of the reasons we are behind many other countries in the math and sciences.
So, I would say, don't worry about "How Long" will it take, concentrate on the fun and excitement engendered from learning.

I studied in High School for 4 years, and in College 4.5 more. I studied one summer abroad in Segovia. When I graduated from College, I still could not speak or understand spoken Spanish very well. I was good at reading and composition...but I wouldn't consider myself fluent after those 9 years of studying.
Years later, I met my Mexican/Cuban friends which did not speak English very well. We agreed that I would only speak in Spanish to them, and they would speak only in English to me so we could help each other.
I forced myself to say everything in Spanish, and it was very frustrating, more for my friends than for me. The main thing was that I had the vocabulary and the grammar, but I wouldn't turn my editor off in my brain and just speak whatever came out. When I got past the point of not focusing on the correct way to say things, instead on just trying to say something understandable is the point at which I considered myself becoming fluent. I not only was able to understand spoken Spanish, but I was no longer thinking in English (or rather doing the English to Spanish translation in my head first).
Also, I remember my first dream in only Spanish, people in my life who I knew didn't know Spanish were communicating to me in Spanish in that dream, that really was a measurable milestone…..now my only problem is that it’s been so long that I’ve kept up in writing in Spanish, that I need to continue working on that.
I'm fortunate to have a job that's global, we have over 70,000 employees in India alone. In China/Asia PAC-RIM, there's about 50,000 more. Their mentality is quite different, especially when it comes to tasks/work. They really have this desire to live for work. Many have more than 2 positions or jobs they hold at anyone time, they are people ready to consume any advantage they are offered, but at the same time their employee benefits are at a much lower standard.
Of course, this is why there's so much outsourcing the States has been doing the past few decades, because if you were to see what my payroll cost rate alone is vs. my colleague in Dalian, China, you would not believe what a steal she is to the company, when I still have 401K benefits, health insurance, vacation pay, annual salary reviews, etc to factor in. They also work hourly with a much different concept of what overtime is. Overtime is when you are working over into the hours where your body can't support the mind to stay awake!!!!
I just am so shocked that in the States, people cannot/will not comprehend what tough working conditions are really like when you the majority of the people around you are living in comfort.....too much comfort! Our education system is absolutely dysfunctional at this point....a person gets 12 years of what? The same curriculum that has been used before the Technological Revolution.
It helped us reach it, and be pretty successful in fact. But you look at what is being taught in public ed, and it's basically the same regurgitated material since our last major reform. Our youth have no interest in what is being taught because they’re unstimulated with non-progressive methods.
Why aren't children in they apex of the learning curve and neural growth in those beautiful little brains learning the languages. And I mean the languages of every part of the body. Music is its own language with sounds not words, but there still is a conversation there, athleticism is a language of the physical body, mathematics is language of truths and constants, sciences, literature, emotions, tastes, smells.....!!!! By the time a student receives his diploma, he should know how to be functional if not fluent in at least four of these different languages to which I am referring. They should know how process for anything (technology, biological, physiological, sociological, psychological, etc) can be broken down and learned, studied and improved.
It starts with children from 3 yrs to 6 years experience the biggest and last growth spurt of their cerebellum, this is why they become bilingual so easily at this age, or learn to play piano or violin, or paint, solve algebraic equations in seconds...(and I’m not talking about forcing kids to follow a specific regime, but how do you know if have the aptitude for pottery if you aren’t given the chance? you see this happening in other countries, the rest of the world is devouring information. They all are aware of what happens around them....but in the States, it's too comfortable to just sit back and be entertained while they throw shoes at your president, remain ignorant, blame non-english speaking illegal aliens for taking their jobs, and on top of that think everyone else needs to speak to them in English, while showing no respect for others who do want to compete for their jobs or find better ways to live, to work together, to improve and reform and and… I will just shut up now..... oh yeah, I’ve been fluent in ramblingese for about five years now

You must approach learning a new skill with this attitude/mind set each and every time. One needs to stop thinking 'how long is it going to take' and just think 'if I work hard at it, I will improve and will be better than when I started'. I mean, what happens if you say, it will take me one year to be 'good' at spanish, and then at the one year mark, you say, hey I'm not 'good'. Do you just quit??
Remember all, it's not about the destination, it's the journey.
Do they really think like that in India?? If the general populace has this mindset, that is actually a really powerful advantage they have over there. Sound the alarm, India's gonna take over the world!!
