Rosetta Stone levels 4 and 5

Question

Has anyone tried levels 4 and 5 of Rosetta Stone Latin American Spanish? How advanced are the lessons? Would you say that once a person has mastered these two levels that they would be able to communicate pretty well in Spanish?

I have only tried levels 1 and 2. They are good practice (especially for a beginner). However, I think the software is way overpriced and you can get the same type of practice/instruction free or at least much cheaper. Also I found it to be very boring.

I respond with a big NO! They only way to communicate well in Spanish is to practice, practice, practice actually talking and listening to people (in short having real life converstions) in Spanish. No course or software can make this happen on its own. They are only tools and aids that can help and possibly accelerate the process some. If you master levels 4 and 5 (and I'm not sure what you mean by that), you will undoubtedly learn new vocabulary, consolidate and learn new grammar. But, at what price? Undoubtedly there are other sources where you can accomplish the same at a far cheaper price. Everybody has their style of learning. For you, this might be a worthwhile purchase. Only you can judge that.
