Vamonos obviously comes from Ir - to go but I can't find the conjugation for "vamonos". The closest is "vamos" we go.

You are close, but it is actually the first person plural imperative of irse.

It has an accent: vámanos.

So, it is formed from "vamos" and "nos". The 's' on vamos is dropped and the accent added to retain the original stress position on vamos.

This info came from "501 Verbs" where I had come across it myself a while back, but I expect there are plenty of Internet sources.

Vámonos is the 1st person, plural command as Jespa stated. That exhortation or command form is usually translated into English as "let's...", therefore, vámonos means "let's go" or "let's leave".

Be aware that the 1st person, plural, present tense, indicative (vamos) and the 1st person, plural, present tense, subjunctive (vayamos) are also used with the same meaning in this context of "let's go." or "let's leave"

Yes; I learnt 'vamos' first and then noticed 'vámonos' in Paralee's video introduction - it puzzled me at the time until I came across it in 501 verbs. - Jespa, Dec 27, 2009

hmmm you dont have to drop the S from vamos if you want. vámosnos a vámonos are both correct.

Vámonos is in the first person of the plural form ( nosotros ) but it is in the imperative.
