¿una microonda o un microonda?
¡Hola a todos!
Quiero preguntar algo. En la lección 1.9 Paralee dice " en la cocina hay un lavabo y un microonda" at the same time the card shows as una microonda. I would like to know how the female article has been switched to "un" instead of una microonda.
Muchas gracias.

According to the R A E, microonda is the electromagnetic wave itself and is feminine, while the word for microwave oven is microondas and is masculine and is used for both singular and plural. It is a short form of horno de microondas, which is masculine and singular.
The same reason we say, "La foto." It's short for "La fotografía."
