I was told here in Mexico that "chipo" is a black and white cow, but can't find the word in any dictionary.

Thanks so much. I think that's the case. Everyone here (San Miguel de Allende) laughs when they hear that my little black & white spotted dog is named Chipita. They agree that it's the perfect name. - KathyS, DIC 31, 2009

That word must be a slang or of very local use. I never heard it before.

In certain regions of Sourh America, it's a dangerous insect. Obviously nothing to do with the word you have heard.
