¿Como se dice "Golden Retriever" en español?
Mi veterenarian de mexicano dice "Golden Retriever."
¿Hay algún otro nombre en español de esta raza popular?
Gracias...

The general name for a retriever is "perro cobrador," but that can be applied to all types of retrievers including labrador retrievers, flat-coated and curly coated retrievers and all other types of retrievers. I am not sure that there is a direct Spanish translation for this particular breed of dog, but perhaps you might use "cobrador dorado"
I am not sure that it is actually necessary to translate this though, as I have seen several instances where the English name for this particular breed is used within the text of an article. I will try to provide you a few links so you might better decide for yourself:
Hmmm, yo conozco ese perro como "Golden" sin más.
son muy bonitos y dóciles....vamos, unos tontorrones muy cariñosos
Es que la mirada lo dice todo
Thank you, Izanoni for the great links. They are a delight to view and read!
The golden retriever is known as corbrador dorado in Spanish. But it also seems that it is more popularly referred to by its English name.
In fact, when I also asked my Mexican vet what he called black labradors, he said, "black labs." (I wish I'd know the word cobrador at that time! But next time I see him, I'll double-check and use the word cobrador.)
On a side note, my vet speaks very little English and pronounced retriever the English way. Not reh-tree-áh-ber." Which suggests that the English pronunciation is common, at least in Sonora where I've seen quite a few golden retrievers.
I most enjoyed reading the descriptions of this dog's personality which is juguetón, obediente, amistoso, tranquilo, y intelligente. (As well as being a near-perfect pet for children.)
¡Es verdád, es verdád!
Sin embargo, soy parcial, por supuesto...
I'm curious. I see that this post has gleaned more than 4,000 views. I'm wondering why.
Could you take a moment to write a brief note to say why you wanted to know more about these lovable creatures?
