song lyric "La Sortija"

Question

This song, from Venezuela, sung by a man, says "dame la sortija, dame mi amor."

Is he asking for a lock of hair, or a ring, or what??

Answer 1

sortija es principialmente un anillo. Tambien quiere decir un rizo de cabello..... The main meaning of sortija es ,"ring" It's secondary meaing is a lock of hair. I hae not heard the song, so I cant tell wheter he is referring to a ring. But since the singer is male 'am sure that he is asking fo a piece of her hair. I never heard of a male lover asking for a ring. But, I am sure it happen, nothing surprises me when it comes to humans.

Answer 2
