Here is the wiki entry for Yin: the "evil" side of the balance and is the white color in the traditional Taoist yin-yang symbol with the two halves and the dots.

Here is a disambiguation page from wiki on Yin if you need to find other uses.

You are correct, but I want to add that yen (with an e, not an i) in English means "a desire" (I have a yen to eat fish). - webdunce, Dec 17, 2009
I have never heard of that. I know of the word yern... you yern to eat fish. - Lasairfiona, Dec 17, 2009
webdunce is right on the "yen" definition - nizhoni1, Dec 17, 2009
Your are thinkning, perhaps, of "yearn". "yern" is a word in English but is a) little used and b) has an unrelated meaning. - samdie, Dec 17, 2009
Specifically, Japanese currency. - samdie, Dec 17, 2009

I have seen this used for "jeans." Sometimes they spell it the same way as we do in English and sometimes it is "los yins" Or sometimes it is los vaqueros or even pantalones de mezclilla!

Yin and yang are concepts from Chinese philosophy dealing with balancing of opposites as the fundamental construct in the universe.

That´s probably because it may well not exist as a Spanish word.
