Male Influenza

Are there any female members out there who believe in this crippling illness that only afflicts male members of the human race. I feel absolutely awful and the only sympathy I am getting from my better half, note the word better here, is to say, pull yourself together. Typical, she thinks I´m a set of curtains.

Speaking as a physician with several years of experience, I believe in the condition you are referring to. I have no evidence to support my theory but I believe that the male sex is truly the weaker sex. I've seen women deliver 5 kg newborns without any anesthesia and with only a single drop of sweat on their brow. Women who will walk around for days, in high heels none the less, on a broken ankle because they haven't had time to come to the doctor. But the moment a male gets a hangnail or papercut or heaven forbid a cold or flu and they act as if the world is coming to an end. They whimper and cry and demand the BIG DRUGS! I blame it all on the Y chromosome. Now, the geneticists haven't found the gene responsible yet but I believe in a few years they will and PMS - Pitiful Male Syndrome – with garner the respect that such a disabling condition demands. Then all the drug companies will clamor to find effective treatments for this terrible ailment.

If you need a laugh, here is a link for the description of SLS – a similar syndrome affecting mostly females in the USA. Scroll down about halfway to #6 Functional Disorders. http://www.placebojournal.com/shopexd.asp?id=227

HA!! Riendo a carcajadas, aquí!
