What are the definitions (en español) of these following words which are used to indicate the nature of a person? Pesado, Tacaño, Rata, Creído, Cotilla, Pelota, Empollón, Aguafiestas, Bocazas. I am not asking for the dictionary meaning but the definitions. Like, rata means,'una persona que tiene mala mentalidad'.

Hi Sushanta,

Each of these words can be found in the dictionary on this site by typing each into the box at the top of the page that says "Enter a Spanish or English word..." or by typing it into the box on the dictionary tab. An even easier way is to double click on the word in question. This will bring up a blue box that will give you a quick definition of the word that also provides the option to click on a link that will take you directly to the dictionary entry for the word.

Your words, by the way, mean: a bore/pain, stingy/miserly, stingy/mean, conceited/gullible/trusting (depending on where in the world you are), busybody/gossip, a creep, bookish/bookworm, a killjoy, big-mouth/blabbermouth

I didn't want the meanings of these words, I wanted the definitions of these in spanish, like rata can be defined (while referring to a person) 'una persona que tiene mala mentalidad'. Thanks anyway - Sushanta_siempre, Dec 14, 2009

Translation came up with these in English:

Heavy, Stingy, Rat, Believed, Busybody, Ball, Grind, Spoilsport, Blabbermouth.

(I'm not clear about why you ask for translations of the words in Spanish.)

Hope this helps.

Anyway, it gave me a good word to use with one of my good friends who is, sometimes, una bocaza!

Hi Volpon, you might want to check the full definition as pesado, rata, creído, pelota, and empollón can mean different things when referring to people :) - Izanoni1, Dec 14, 2009
Thanks. A good reminder of what is so true of almost any language! I appreciated your fuller definitions. - 0057ed01, Dec 14, 2009
Volpon, while referring to persons, most of these words changes their general meaning. Nevertheless, I didn't want the meaning of these words but their definitions. LIke, rata means, ' una persona que tiene mala mentalidad'. I think now you understand. - Sushanta_siempre, Dec 14, 2009
