"The thing is..."

"Well,..."

"It's just that..."

"It's like..."

etc.

También puede decir "lo pasa es que"

Just how popular is "lo pasa es que"? Type it into Google, in quotes, and you get 99 million results!

...it is that...

I should study, but [the fact] is [that] I don't feel like it.

In Spanish you need the "que" or "that" which we often omit in English. Spanish needs it to introduce the noun clause that I don't feel like it

I should study, but I don't feel like it would probably still be correct, but it doesn't show as much disdain as the other construction.

Debo estudiar, pero no me apetece.

Debo estudiar, que no me apetece is incorrect so you have to include the "es" before the "que".

no offense but..why are you posting this when I already put the same answer...it's that....we had a discussion about double posting when the correct answer was already posted... - jeezzle, Dec 13, 2009
Look at the time stamp differences. It's completely possible that gfreed began typing his post just before you posted yours as his is only 15 minutes younger. - hithere3387, Dec 13, 2009

Well, you can look at it like "it's that" but I tend to look at it like "it's like...." Check it out...I should (must) study, but it's like.....I don't have the desire to...
