I found this on another site:

En Cuba, se dice trapear, pasar un trapo, pasar un trapeador.

En México, se dice tallar o trapear también.

En Puerto Rico, se dice mapear o pasar el mapo.

En España, se dice fregar

I also saw pasar la fregona (fregona = mop)

Evidently "to mop" is a complicated term in Spanish. wink

Add to that: in Costa Rica you"pasar el trapo" (with a "trapo de piso") and in Nicaragua you "lampasear" (with a "lampazo"). - Puffy_Taco, Sep 24, 2010

The PR version is "spanglish." "Trapear" comes from "Trapo" (Rag), and si considered correct in the Americas. "Fregar" is "Scrub." "Fregar" in Mexico is also an idiom, "To bother."
